Fresher, some showers
Severe gales & rain Scotland

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 22nd May 2020
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Gales and showers in Ireland and Scotland, drier after morning patchy rain east and south, fresher for all

Good morning,

A change of airflow today brought about by low pressure in the Atlantic. This has driven fresher, windier weather through all areas, something many haven't seen for some time. There will be some rain very early pon in the east, but this clearing quickly to be replaced by bright spells. Always more cloud in the south, scattered showers on western coasts. Heavier showers in western Scotland and northwest Ireland.

This afternoon sees further showers over the west and windy here too, but drier east and south. Severe gales and heavier rain in northwest Scotland this afternoon. Showers stay mostly scattered in Ireland. Tonight sees further gales in northern and northwest Scotland with rain. A few showers over western coasts of Irland and the UK, gales in western Ireland. Dry for others with some clear spells.
