UK Forecast - October 18, 2018
Windy with rain in the north
Dry with hazy sunshine in the south

Friday
A ridge of high pressure over Southern Britain, with an occluded frontal trough in the north and west weakening as it moves east and south. Some rain and drizzle around the north and west of Scotland and Ireland, mostly light and patchy but with some heavier bursts at first around the Western Isles and West Highlands. The south and east of Scotland will be largely dry with sunny intervals developing. Much of England and Wales will be dry with spells of sunshine developing after any early mist or fog has cleared. However, Northwest England and some northern and western parts of Wales will be cloudier, the cloud perhaps thick enough to give a few spots of rain or drizzle in Cumbria. West or southwest winds in the north will be fresh to strong but with only a gentle breeze across most of England and Wales. Highs around 12C in the north, nearer to 14 in the Midlands and up to around 16C in the south.

Friday Night
After a mostly dry start, rain or drizzle will return to the north and west of Scotland and, perhaps, parts of Northern and Western Ireland. England and Wales will be dry but with mist and fog forming, especially around East Wales and central parts of England. Overnight lows around 4 to 7C in the north, 7 to 11C in the south.

Saturday
A ridge of high pressure persists over Southern Britain but with frontal troughs affecting the north. The north and west of Scotland and some northern and western parts of Ireland will have rain or drizzle at times but the east will stay mostly dry with some sunny intervals. Dry for much of England and Wales with some sunshine breaking through once any mist or fog has cleared, although this may a slow process for some parts of Central England and East Wales. Once again, though, Northwest England and some northern and western parts of Wales will be cloudier, the cloud perhaps thick enough to give a few spots of rain or drizzle in Cumbria. Breezy in the north and west. Milder generally, highs 14 to 18C.

Sunday
A cold front will move south as a weakening feature, with a ridge of high pressure building east across much of the British Isles. Still some rain or drizzle about at first in northern and western areas but becoming confined to the far north of Scotland later, otherwise a dry day with variable cloud cover and some sunshine. Becoming breezy around the coast and windy in the far north of Scotland with a risk of gales. Highs 11 to 16C in the north, near to 18C in the south.
