Conditions remain dry and settled through the working week; all change through the weekend

All change through the weekend as high pressure shifts south and low pressure returns bringing cooler and more unsettled weather to our shores.

Friday 29/03/19
High pressure shifts to the southeast on Friday allowing a cold front to bring thicker cloud and persistent rain to northwestern parts of Scotland. Staying mostly bright, dry and mild for England, Wales and southeastern parts of Ireland and Scotland. High temperatures at 10 to 18C.

Saturday 30/03/19
Low pressure to the north on Saturday sends a cold front southward across the UK and Ireland which will bring light, patchy rain to northern parts of the UK and Ireland. Behind the front will be light scattered showers which may fall as snow over the mountains of Scotland. Staying mostly dry in the southeast but clouding over later in the day. The cloud could become thick enough for some rain to develop through the evening. Feeling cool in the northerly wind with highs at 7 to 9C in the northwest, 11 to 17C in the southeast.

Sunday 31/03/19
A ridge of high pressure reestablishes over the UK and Ireland on Sunday. This brings a mostly settled day with a mixture of cloudy skies and sunny spells. Cloudier in the north, brighter in the south. High temperatures at 7 to 10C.

Monday 01/04/19
Monday may be rather windy as high pressure moves to the southeast and low pressure is located to the north. This brings a westerly airflow with persistent rain for western coasts and hills. Wintry showers are possible through the afternoon for northern parts of Scotland. Drier and brighter in the south and east. High temperatures at 7 to 11C.

Tuesday 02/04/19
The air flow over the UK and Ireland turns northerly on Tuesday bringing a mixture of good sunny spells and scattered showers. These may turn to sleet and snow over higher ground in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the north of England. High temperatures at 6 to 10C.

Wednesday 03/04/19
Low pressure to the east and high pressure to the west keeps the UK and Ireland in a northerly air flow. Showers, some of which may be wintry, continue to affect eastern areas; cloudy but mostly dry in the west. High temperatures at 5 to 9C.
