Rain arrives from the west

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 9th March 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A dry and bright start for much of the UK. Cloudier to the west over Ireland. Cloud and rain arrives from the west through the day spreading across Ireland and Northern Ireland initially then spreading across Britain through the afternoon and evening.

Good Morning,

A mostly dry and bright start to the day across the UK with a few mist or fog patches possible in more sheltered areas. Isolated showers affect western and northern parts of Scotland and parts of East Anglia too. Cloudier over Ireland with rain, accompanied by strong winds, spreading across Ireland and much of Northern Ireland through the morning. Cloud builds over western parts of Britain as the morning progresses.

The afternoon sees rain spread across much of the UK through the afternoon, perhaps not reaching northeast Scotland or southeast England until much later. Becoming breezier across the country.

Rain starts to clear to the east through the evening leaving frequent showers, some of them heavy, across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Outbreaks of rain continue to affect much of England, Scotland and Wales.

Have a good day!

Claire
