Dry for many, increasing cloud and cool then windy with rain tonight

A bright start to the day through much of central and southern England and Wales. Plenty of sunshine and dry weather too. More cloud across Scotland and northern England as well as Ireland with some patchy rain or drizzle around western, northern and eastern coasts. Feeling cool.

This afternoon is likely to be cloudy for many. There will be rain in the north and west of Scotland with drizzle in western Wales and over western coasts of England. Tending to be drier in central and eastern areas. Some patchy rain in northern and western Ireland too.

Tonight brings a band of rain south through Scotland and northern England as well as Ireland. Wintry showers following to much of Scotland, snow on hills. Becoming windier further south as well.
