Morning Call - December 20, 2020
Cooler
Blustery showers

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 20th December 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Sunday will be on the cooler side for most compared to Saturday. There will be frequent showers for western areas while central and eastern areas tend to stay dry. Good spells of sunshine develop too for many, the best of these will be to the east.

Good Morning,

Frequent showers affect western parts of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on Sunday morning. Some of these will be very heavy and could be quite lively as well with hail and thunder possible. Strong winds affect northern areas too with coastal gales to the northwest. Central and eastern areas fare drier through the morning with good spells of sunshine here.

Very little change into the afternoon though showers could merge over western Scotland and northwestern Ireland to give longer spells of rain here. Gales continue over coastal areas of the northwest too. A few showers spread into southern and central parts of England as well as into Northern Ireland. The best of the afternoon sun will be over eastern Scotland.

Clod thickens over Ireland and the southwest of the UK into Sunday evening as an area of low pressure approaches from the southwest. Rain arrives here later in the evening. Showers continue to affect western parts of Scotland but tend to fade elsewhere. Winds gradually ease overnight.

Have a good day!

Claire
