Perhaps Very Cold Later

Cold and dry initially, but then perhaps very cold with snow risk next week

For the weather for the next few days click here

Friday 23/2/18
Increasing confidence that cold conditions will develop during Friday as the easterly winds continue. It brings isolated light snow flurries into some south-eastern areas, whilst the north and west should be drier but still cold despite some sunny spells. Winds E'ly for most, perhaps moderate or fresh in the south and east, but still more S or SW'ly in the far west and north-west of the British Isles. Highs at 1C to 4C, widespread frosts.

Saturday 24/2/18
Staying cold and rather cloudy in a stiff east or south-easterly wind on Saturday. Further snow flurries are likely, especially in eastern areas with the best of any brightness in the north and west. Low to medium risk now of very cold weather arriving from the east later in the day with a greater risk of snow showers. Highs 1C to 4C.

Sunday 25/2/18
Increasingly confidence for very cold weather to filter into the British Isles, from the east, through the day. Snow flurries possible in the south and east and these perhaps becoming more widespread and heavier late in the day. Still mainly dry though further north and west with some sunny spells. Moderate or fresh E or ENE'ly wind for many, but SE'ly in the far north and west. Marked wind-chill factor too. Highs 0C to 4C.

Monday 26/2/18
It is likely that blocked weather pattern remain with winds either from the east or north-east, moderate or perhaps fresh too and with a significant wind-chill factor, perhaps feeling bitterly cold. Frequent snow showers possible in south and eastern areas, perhaps spreading inland through the day given the breeze with some accumulations. Highs 0C to 3C, widespread harsh frosts and icy conditions.

Tuesday 27/2/18
Low confidence but a likely continuation of the very wintry weather is likely across many areas of the British Isles with perhaps a more widespread risk of snow by this point, perhaps with locally significant accumulations. Risk of a bitterly cold easterly winds continue, widespread frosts and icy conditions. Highs -1C to 3C.

Wednesday 28/2/18
Low confidence regarding the details in particular, but it is likely that the very cold weather will persist bringing further wintry conditions, perhaps with some significant snow for some areas and widespread frequent harsh frosts by night. Highs -1C to 3C.
