Cold, sunshine in south
Rain in northwest

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 25th December 2020

A cold Christmas for most, early frost and then best sunshine in the south

Happy Christmas! A widespread frost starts this morning. Plenty of sunshine and dry too. Scattered showers in East Anglia and southeast England. Cloudier in Scotland with some rain in the north and west with the winds increasing here.

This afternoon sees rain into the north and west of Scotland. Dry in other areas, but still with sunshine in the far south. Cloud tending to increase in northern England and Wales.

Tonight stays chilly in the south. Rain turns more showery in northern England and Ireland. Patchy rain across Wales too. Heavy showers and gale force winds reach western Scotland later, these turning to snow over hills.
