UK Forecast - January 18, 2019
Cold, mostly cloudy
Slow moving showers

Saturday
A chilly day, with a lot of cloud cover for many places. Patchy rain, some sleet or snow over higher ground. Generally amounting to very little, but locally in southwest England and south Wales, clusters of showers may be frequent over a few hours, with a risk of hail. Largely dry for Scotland and Northern Ireland, local showers near coasts. A brisk southeasterly breeze in eastern areas, lighter winds in the west. Temperatures 2 to 5C east & north, 6 to 10C south-west.

Saturday night
Residual showers will largely fade, leaving just a few around southwestern coasts. A front comes into the far west of Ireland, producing steady rain here as night progresses. Variable cloud and clear spells across Britain. Frost and ice forming. Light winds. Temperatures will depend on cloud cover, staying above freezing for some, but in clear spots falling to -1 to -4C, coldest in rural northern areas.

Sunday
Slack pressure results in a frosty but largely dry day for many places. Some sunshine in the south and east. A weak front moves into the west and north of Britain, giving cloudier skies and patchy rain or hill snow. A few bands of showers over the Irish Sea may give frequent rain to west Wales and southwest England. A northwesterly breeze will strengthen in the west, otherwise winds will be light. Temperatures only 3 to 5C for most, locally 9 or 10C in the south-west.

Monday
A frosty start for much of England and Wales. Staying dry across the south and south-east during daylight hours. Fronts moving in from the north-west bring rain and briefly milder air to Ireland, Scotland and northern England. Snow confined to the higher hills. Into the night, colder air returns, with snow falling to lower levels in the north. West to southwesterly winds will strengthen, to gale force around western coasts. Temperature rising slowly to 4 to 7C, mildest west.
