Cloud and outbreaks of rain, snow showers in the west, severe frost in places tonight
Cloud and periods of rain across the far south of Ireland today. This area of rain and cloud cross southern Wales and southern England, most persistent in the southwest. West and south Wales will also see rain with cloud covering hills. An area of showers in northwest England and western Scotland. The showers will be increasingly wintry. Some snow showers over the high ground of the Pennines and central Wales too.
This afternoon sees more rain in central and southern England and Wales. In central Wales there could be a spell of snow, mostly ver high ground. The snow also affecting northern England with high level routes being particularly affected. Further snow showers in western Scotland, fair and sunny in central and eastern areas. A few showers in western and southern Ireland, fair towards the east.
The risk of some snow tonight over the Midlands, mostly over high ground, as well as in northeast England. Some snow could affect western Ireland. Drier for other areas apart from a scattering of showers on western coasts and hills. A cild night with a widespread and severe frost in parts of Wales, northern England, Scotland and Ireland.
