Cloudy & mild
Rain in the west

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 19th October 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cloudy and mild with periods of rain and drizzle, especially in the west, becoming warm this afternoon in the east

A broad southwesterly flow is going to be affecting all parts of the UK and Ireland today. There is rain in Wales and Scotland this morning, this affecting the northwest of England too. Drizzle elsewhere, but drier weather reaching southern areas through this morning and into the early part of this afternoon. Mist and fog affecting the hills and coasts which face the wind.

This afternoon stays mild and windy for most. Further periods of rain and drizzle as well as low cloud affecting western and southern coasts and hills. More eastern areas tending to be drier and mild. There could be some sunny spells in central and southeastern England and temperatures here to 20C.

Tonight sees more persistent rain in central, eastern and southern England. The rain heavy and thundery om southern coasts. Low cloud and drizzle in southwest England and western Wales. Some clearer skies in northern England and Scotland, cooler here with some showers in the west.
