Chilly
Showers

It will be a chilly day with showers affecting most areas

Good morning,

It's a chilly start to the day for Scotland with a chance of ground frost in some more rural locations. Temperatures should be mostly above freezing elsewhere but it will still feel cooler than it has done of late. First thing, a cold front will extend from Northern Ireland across the Midlands to East Anglia bringing light rain or showers to these areas. To the north of this it will be bright with some scattered showers, these wintry over the Highlands and Grampians. While, to the south, it will be rather cloudy with showers spreading across Wales and southern parts of England.

The front will continue to sink slowly southward through the morning and afternoon with rain becoming increasingly fragmented as it goes. Showers will continue to affect central and southern England and Wales and these may be heavy at times. Showers will increase in frequency over Scotland through the day while in the far north they may merge to give longer spells of rain. High temperatures reaching just 7 or 8C for Scotland and Northern Ireland, more widely 10 to 13C.

It will continue showery for most areas through Friday evening and there could be some heavy bursts around the Home Counties and southeast.

Don't forget your brolly!
Claire
