A change in the weather this weekend and next week with rain and showers

A change in the weather through this weekend and into next week. Lower pressure brings showers and periods of rain. The showers could be heavy at times, most of them to the north and west. Temperatures are likely to fall as the low pressure passes east, turning precipitation wintry over the mountains of Scotland.

Friday 24/5/19
The weak occluded front brings cloud and some showery outbreaks of rain over Ireland, Wales and England. A few moderate bursts of rain in southern England. Drier in Scotland with some sunny spells, the best in the west. Showers or spots of rain in the far northeast of Scotland where it stays breezy. Tops at 10C in northern Scotland, 23C in southeast England.

Saturday 25/5/19
Low pressure west of Scotland will be pushing fronts eastwards on Saturday. This brings cloud and periods of rain through Scotland, Ireland and later into northwest England. Most of the rain will be light. Drier to the south with sunny spells. Highs at 12C in northern Scotland, 20 to 22C in much of southern England.
 

Sunday 26/5/19
The risk of more persistent rain on Sunday as low pressure passes east, taking fronts with it. Most of the rain will be in northern areas, lighter rain to the south. A cold day in Scotland at 7 to 11C, 21C in much of central, southern and eastern England.

 
 
 

Monday 27/5/19
Lower pressure to the west of Scotland on Monday. Showers affecting western areas, these more isolated to the east. The showers could merge to longer spells of rain in western Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 13 to 21C.

Tuesday 28/5/19
Low pressure dominates on Tuesday. There will be further showers, some of them heavy and thundery. Little change through the day. Highs at 11 to 18C.

Wednesday 29/5/19
Pressure is likely to be staying low over the country on Wednesday. There will be showers, some of them heavy with a risk of thunder. Showers could be wintry over the hills of Scotland. Highs at 5 to 15C.
