Some persistent rain south-west; showery Scotland

Good morning,

The remains of ex-Hurricane Ophelia moves away from Scotland across the North Sea into Norway. Gale force winds in northern Britain will ease slowly, but be aware of disruption to travel this morning, especially in central Scotland.

A brief ridge of high pressure influences the southern half of Britain, bringing a bright day to many places. A frontal zone over the English Channel is expected to develop, bringing rain to south-western England, which may turn persistent and locally heavy.

Showery rain in Scotland may merge to constant rain over the west & northern Highlands. A dry and bright day for much of Ireland, with winds dropping light. A few showers for Northern Ireland in the morning.

Much lower temperatures than yesterday, and less humid too, highs 12 to 15C, up to 17C in the south-east.

Have a great day.
Garry
