High winds and rain in the far north. Sunny spells and blustery showers elsewhere
Heavy rain across the Northern Isles first thing with gale force winds. Through the morning rain should largely clear out but high winds continue. A cloudy start to the southeast of England with rain affecting the far southeast for a time before clearing off and sunny spells develop. Elsewhere, largely dry and bright with sunny spells, but showers, perhaps heavy and likely to be frequent, in the west. A brisk wind for most.
The afternoon sees strong to near gale force winds still further north and fresh to strong winds elsewhere. Showers in the west perhaps blowing in across some central regions. Eastern counties though staying mainly dry with sunny spells. A chilly day, particularly when exposed to the wind.
Overnight, a brisk wind continues to blow across the country with blustery showers still expected to affect western and southern coasts. Largely dry further inland and in the east where clear spells are expected. A chilly night for many.
