Issued: Saturday 14th January 2023 Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus
After next weeks cold northerly stint higher pressure settles the weather down for a time before lower pressure deepens back in the North Atalntic heading into February.
*16/1/23 - 22/1/23* Low pressure trough over country or just to the east. Unsettled with strengthened winds and heavy rain at times. Cold northerly developing for a few days. Risk of snow, not just to higher ground. Extensive frost and ice developing.
*23/1/23 - 29/1/23* High pressure ridges up and influences a mostly settled week. Expecting largely dry weather across the country. Mist and fog could be a problem on some days. Milder than previous week though risk of some chillier nights
*30/1/23 - 5/2/23* Lower pressure gradually deepens again out in the North Atlantic. Higher pressure is pushed further east from the UK. A battle between an easterly wind in east and south-westerly winds in west could bring possible snow on one or two days. Perhaps less wet through southern and eastern areas. A more tightened pressure gradient with strengthened winds at times.
*6/2/23 - 12/1/23* Lower pressure sits to the west/northwest of Scotland. Weather staying mixed and changeable with rain and showers on most days. A westerly wind flow with around average temperatures.
