Snow for the southern Alps


Friday
Early rain for Spain should break up, becoming confined toward the Pyrenees, leaving a bright day for much of Spain and Portugal, highs 16C. Heavy rain for the south of France, moving into north-west Italy, and falling as snow over the south & western Alps. Showery for Biscay coasts, also north-west Spain.
The Low Countries and central-eastern Europe remain dry, with high pressure focused toward the east. A risk of staying murky with extensive low cloud and fog. A good deal of sunshine for southern Italy, the Balkans and Greece. Thundery for Cyprus. Much of Scandinavia will also stay dry. Windy and cold with frequent snow showers for northern Norway. Windy too for Finland.


Saturday
Rain moves into Portugal, but much of Spain will be dry, up to 17C on eastern Costas. Southern France will be dry, whilst rain passes east across Italy into the Balkans. Snow for the Austrian Alps. A few showers for southern Italy, 17 to 20C. Much of eastern Europe will be dry. Sunshine for Greece . A few showers for Cyprus. Chilly for Germany and Poland, 3 to 6C. Patchy rain for northern France and the Low Countries. High pressure lies to the north-west of Europe ushering in cold northerly winds across Scandinavia. A few snow showers for northern Norway, but southern Norway and Sweden will be dry with sunshine.
