Europe forecast - July 06, 2018
Varied Weather
Hottest In the West

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 6th July 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Cool and unsettled across more northern and eastern areas, hot and mainly dry in the west

Friday
Into Friday and low pressure, along with a N'ly breeze will dominate across much of Norway, Sweden and Finland, also extending down into parts of Germany and eastwards towards Poland too. As a result these more northern regions of Europe will be cool and often unsettled through the day with some rain or showers, perhaps with some scattered thunderstorms at times too. High pressure continues to maintain the increasingly extreme dry conditions across the UK and also extending down into France too where mainly dry. Very hot conditions develop across inland areas of Spain and Portugal but with some afternoon heavy downpours. Much of the Med will also be very warm or hot with plenty of sunshine but scattered afternoon downpours are possible, perhaps especially across northern areas of Italy, eastwards into the Balkans and also towards Greece and Turkey.

Saturday
During Saturday and high pressure maintains fine weather across the UK and across much of France too, very warm here as well, if not hot. Hot and sunny weather continues across Iberia but with afternoon thunderstorms, especially across Spain. The cooler and, overall, more unsettled conditions continue across much of Scandinavia, down into parts of Germany, Poland and more eastern areas of Europe as N or NW'ly winds persist here. Much of the Med remains very warm or hot with plenty of sunshine but with, again, scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms cropping up during the afternoon and perhaps especially so across the Balkans still and towards Greece and Turkey.
