Hot around the Baltic


Saturday
Hot and sunny across the Mediterranean from southern Spain to Italy, Greece and Turkey. Rain affects northern Spain at times, a few showers for Portugal too. A belt of heavy rain over western France in the morning will advance eastwards with thunderstorms breaking out for central, southern and eastern France by afternoon and evening. Some storms moving into the Low Countries later too.
Localised showers may form over northern Italy and the Alps. Thundery downpours more widespread over the Balkan states, Hungary and Romania by evening. Much of Germany and Poland will stay dry, but a risk of local showers.
Warm southerly air affects Scandinavia, approching 30C in southern Sweden, widely into the mid-20s for Finland. Some thundery showers in Norway, but plenty of sunshine around the Baltic.


Sunday
Further thunderstorms affect central and eastern France, also around the Pyrenees. Much of Spain and Portugal will be dry. Hot and sunny across the Mediterranean again. Thundery downpours northern Greece into parts of Romania and Bulgaria.
Fresher conditions for north and western France with some sunshine. Also dry toward North Sea coasts in the Low Countries. Scattered heavy showers for Germany, some heavy and thundery bursts in the west and toward the Alps.
Heavy rain affects southern Norway and Denmark. Some thunderstorms forming toward northern Finland. Another very warm day for Sweden and the Baltic states with high pressure and southerly air.
