Becoming drier and sunnier for most; temperatures starting to warm up
Higher pressure builds east of the country bringing drier and more settled conditions for a time and allows temperatures to rise. Fronts over Ireland and western Scotland bringing rain here, some of it heavy and rather prolonged. Conditions look to be turning more mixed and unsettled once again from Thursday.

An area of low pressure centred to the southwest of Ireland on Thursday brings heavy, sometimes thundery, showers and outbreaks of rain across much of the UK and Ireland. A mostly cloudy day though drier and brighter conditions follow to the southwest through the evening for parts of England and Wales. A breezy day in the southwest too. Highs widely at 20 to 27C, 29 to 34C for eastern and southeastern parts of England.
A trough over the UK on Friday brings heavy, sometimes thundery, showers and outbreaks of rain to Ireland and western parts of the UK through the day. Drier and brighter conditions follow behind this for western areas though the risk of isolated scattered showers remains. A drier day to the east but staying rather cloudy here. A cooler day for all with high temperatures at 16 to 23C.
A westerly flow on Saturday brings a mostly bright day with outbreaks of showers at times. These mainly focussed over Ireland, Wales and western parts of England and Scotland. Northwestern parts of Scotland could see persistent light rain throughout the day. The best of the brightness for northern and central England and north Wales. High temperatures ranging from 15 to 23C.
A small area of low pressure may develop early on Sunday bringing outbreaks of rain to Ireland and western parts of the UK. A mostly bright day elsewhere across the British Isles with a slight chance of a few scattered showers at times. High temperatures at 16 to 24C.
A trough extending from the Irish Sea to the northeast of Scotland may bring heavy showers and outbreaks of rain at times for eastern Ireland, much of Scotland, Wales and western parts of England. A drier day to the southeast. High temperatures at 17 to 27C.
Low pressure stays close by on Tuesday with a westerly flow bringing a rather mixed day of showers, outbreaks of rain and sunny spells. The heaviest rain expected over Scotland. High temperatures at 16 to 22C.
