Perhaps cooler by end of the week

An unsettled week to come across Britain with Atlantic fronts and low pressure areas often bringing in spells of rain and gusty winds in from the west. Temperatures are expected to be above normal for most areas this week with Scotland cooler.

Expect heavy rain across western parts of Britain spreads eastward in the afternoon. A damp and windy evening and night to come for all with heavy rain across Scotland. Mild for England and Wales. Expect high temperatures of 7 to 11C.

Wednesday 08/03/17
Windy and quite mild with gales across Scotland that diminish through the day. Fair and dry for most. Some rain to affect northern Scotland and the far south in the morning. Rain may fall across southern England in the night. Highs of 9 to 12C.

Very mild with most areas cloudy. Some patchy drizzle to come with persistent rain across western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Heavier rain to affect the north and west overnight. Highs of 8 to 13C.

Staying mild for Friday and quite a windy day. A cloudy, wet day with spells of rain and showers. Very windy and cooler overnight with spells of rain. Rain clears to showers across Scotland, turning wintry over the hills. Gales may affect the western coasts ands hills. Highs of 8 to 11C.

Strong north west winds turn things cooler but temperatures at normal values. A number of showers develop through the day mixed with drier, sunnier spells. Highs of 7 to 8C.

Sunday 12/03/17
A chilly, breezy day with showers across eastern parts of Scotland and England. These may be wintry over the Highlands. Drier and sunnier to the west. Expect highs of 5 to 8C.
