Showers in east
Chilly overall

Issued: 0800 Wednesday 19th October 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Chilly with eastern showers, tending to be dry for most

A chilly few days ahead as low pressure over northern Europe combines with higher pressure to the north and west of the UK to bring a chilly northeast wind. There will be showers on eastern coasts, but western areas are going to be drier. Hints of some slightly milder weather next week, and staying largely dry too.

Saturday 22/10/16
The east to northeast flow continues to affect most of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. There will be a few showers on eastern coasts of Scotland and England. Elsewhere it should be mostly dry with some sunny spells. However, there is a low chance of a shower over the far southern coasts of England. Temperatures at 10 to 14C.

Sunday 23/10/16
A northeasterly flow continues through Sunday. Further scattered showers on eastern coasts, perhaps an odd one in the far south too. For most the day will be dry with sunny spells, the best of these to the west. Temperatures at 9 to 14C.

Monday 24/10/16
Low pressure is just south of the UK and Ireland on Monday. This pushes fronts northwards which give rain in much of southern Ireland, south Wales and southern England. Breezy and cold in Scotland with cloud and patchy rain on eastern coasts. Fair for central areas, but then further cloud and rain in the far west. Highs of 10 to 14C.

Tuesday 25/10/16
Low pressure stays to the south of the country on Tuesday with higher pressure to the north. Cloud and some rain in southern and eastern areas, but drier and brighter to the west. Cool with temperatures at 10 to 15C and windy to the north.

Wednesday 26/10/16
Higher pressure over the south of the country on Wednesday bringing dry weather and some sunny spells here. Weak fronts passing east over Scotland taking cloud and some outbreaks of rain with them, mostly to the north and west. Highs at 10 to 15C.

Thursday 27/10/16
Higher pressure may build through Thursday bringing dry conditions and an early ground frost. Bright with sunny spells for most. Highs at 10 to 15C.
