A more mixed spell of weather with rain and showers, most in the north and west

Conditions will be turning more mixed in the coming days. Pressure is going to be falling and this will be bringing rain and showers for many. Most rainfall through the weekend and into next week is going to be across more western areas, with the east and south tending to see less rain. Temperatures close to average although becoming warmer later in the week.

Saturday 13/5/17
Low pressure is going to be west of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. There is uncertainty in the detail of the weather for Saturday but it is expected that there will be cloud and rain in more western areas. This is most likely in western Scotland and northwest England. Showers affect England and eastern Wales, some of these heavy, although drier in the far south. Breezier conditions with more persistent rain reaching Ireland later. Highs at 10 to 17C.


Sunday 14/5/17
Troughs pass east on Sunday morning bringing showery bands of rain with them. These should clear to the east with sunny spells developing as a ridge of high pressure builds. There will be some sunny spells and mostly dry weather in the afternoon, although scattered showers across England, Wales and Ireland. Cloudier in western Ireland and western Scotland with heavy showers here. Tops near 12 to 17C.


Monday 15/5/17
The southwesterly flow continues through Monday. A front brings rain east through Ireland and into western Scotland, Wales and western England. More eastern parts of the country are going to be drier overall with some sunny spells here. Highs at 12 to 17C.

 
 
 


Tuesday 16/5/17
Low pressure north of the UK on Tuesday with higher pressure to the south. The southwest flow will be continues with fronts passing eastwards bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to many. Central and southern areas are likely to be drier and brighter although low cloud and some fog affecting western and southern coasts and hills. Tops at 10C in northern Scotland, 19C in southeast England.


Wednesday 17/5/17
Indications are that the moist southwest flow persists on Wednesday. Fronts may bring rain across Ireland and to the west and south of Scotland as well as northwest England and Wales. More southern and eastern parts of England and Scotland tending to be drier with sunny spells here. Highs at 10C in central Scotland but to 21C in southern England.

Thursday 18/5/17
A ridge of high pressure may start to build on Thursday. This should bring a drier day for many with sunny spells. A few showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 11 to 19C.
