Becoming more unsettled with rain and showers, temperatures close to average
After a fair and warm couple of days the weather looks set to become more unsettled for all from the middle of the week. Low pressure takes control and bands of rain spread eastwards through the country, these thundery on Wednesday. The weekend is likely to be rather showers, with the showers heavy and merging into longer spells of rain. Temperatures slipping to be closer to average.

Thursday 20/7/17 Low pressure remains to the northwest of Ireland on Thursday. This brings some wet and windy weather into Ireland, with this reaching western Scotland later. There may be some cloud and showery rain in the far southeast at first, although this clearing. Dry for most with sunny spells throughout the day. Temperatures at 17 to 24C.
Friday 21/7/17 Low pressure to the west of Scotland pushing a front eastwards. This brings a band of rain, most of it across more northern and western areas, followed by sunshine and showers. The showers heavy and merging into longer spells of rain in western Scotland, Northern Ireland and northwest England. Highs at 16 to 22C.
Saturday 22/7/17 Low pressure remains in control through Saturday. This brings showers to many areas, most of them in more western parts where they could merge into longer spells of thundery rain at times. More eastern and southern areas probably seeing fewer showers. Highs at 17 to 23C.
Sunday 23/7/17 Low pressure drifts north of Scotland on Sunday. This is likely to bring a mixed day of showers or longer spells of rain to most areas. The rain and showers may be heavy at times. Highs near 17 to 25C.
Monday 24/7/17 Low pressure may drift east on Monday allowing a drier northwest flow to develop. There will still be showers, most of them to the east. Conditions tending to become brighter and drier west and south. Highs near 16 to 23C.
Tuesday 25/7/17 Uncertainty in Tuesday's forecast, but for now we suspect cloud and some rain affect western Ireland and western Scotland. Drier to the east and south. Highs at 17 to 23C.
