A mixed with but mild for all then unsettled at the weekend

A mixed weather regime predominates across the UK and Ireland this week. Low pressure will be bringing periods of rain and strong winds, although with the flow from the southwest it is going to be mild. The potential for some warm weather across eastern England too. It may turn stormier at the weekend and cooler too before the more settled weather arrives into next week.

Thursday 9/3/17
Fronts passing northeast through Thursday bringing moist, mild Atlantic air through all areas of the UK and Ireland. There will be plenty of cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting western areas, the most persistent over western Scotland and the south and west of Ireland. More eastern parts may see morning cloud and drizzle break and fade with some brighter spells developing for the afternoon. Becoming very mild in the brighter spells with tops at 11 to 15C.


Friday 10/3/17
An area of low pressure to the west of Ireland on Friday. This brings cloud and rain across Ireland with periods of rain over western Scotland too. Western Scotland and southwest England may see some low cloud and drizzle too. Eastern areas are likely to be brighter and drier with some sunny spells coming through. Highs at 11 to 16C.
 


Saturday 11/3/17
The area of low pressure is likely to be crossing the UK through Saturday. This brings gales to many parts of the UK and Ireland. Rain passes east, followed by heavy showers. The showers merging to longer spells of rain at times. Becoming drier in Ireland, Wales and southern England. Highs at 8 to 12C.
 


Sunday 12/3/17
Low pressure passes into Sweden on Sunday. A ridge of high pressure builds through Ireland. The northwest flow brings cooler conditions with a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers heavy in northern and eastern parts of Scotland and England with further showers in north and west Wales as well as Northern Ireland. Highs at 7 to 10C.


Monday 13/3/17
A ridge of high pressure builds through the UK and Ireland on Monday. This brings a fair day with sunny spells for many. However, weak fronts could affect northern Scotland bringing some cloud and rain here. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Tuesday 14/3/17
Another fair day is likely for most on Tuesday with the ridge of high pressure remaining over most areas. Cloud and rain will be arriving in Ireland and the west of the UK. Highs at 10 to 14C.
