A milder weekend then varying temperatures next week
Turning milder through the weekend as air arrives from the Atlantic. This brings a fair amount of moisture with it which could lead to drizzle in the west. Varying temperatures next week as conditions become more mixed although still plenty of dry weather to the south.

Sunday 8/1/17
Higher pressure builds on Sunday to the south of the country. It may still be that western coasts and hills have some low cloud and drizzle affecting them. Areas away from the west should be brighter and drier with some bright or sunny spells. A mild day too with tops of 8 to 11C.
 Monday 9/1/17
More persistent rain and stronger winds spread eastwards through Monday with low pressure north of Scotland. The rain could be heavy at times across Scotland, and Ireland during the morning before moving into England and Wales in the afternoon. Highs at 6 to 11C.
 Tuesday 10/1/17
The westerly flow persists through Tuesday. Low pressure is north of the UK with high pressure to the south. More fronts pass eastwards bringing periods of rain, most in the north and west with eastern areas staying mostly dry. Breezy too. Tops at a cooler 6 to 10C.
Wednesday 11/1/17
Wednesday sees low pressure to the north of Scotland with a strong west to northwest flow developing. Plenty of cloud around bringing some rain to western coasts and hills, although probably drier to the east and south. Highs at 6 to 11C.
Thursday 12/1/17
Low pressure remains north of Scotland as the flow turns more northwesterly bringing a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers could merge into longer spells of rain across Ireland and Scotland. Highs at 5 to 10C.
Friday 13/1/17
A cooler day on Friday with low pressure staying north of the country and high pressure to the south. Further showers in northern Scotland, wintry at times. Drier to the south with some bright or sunny spells. Temperatures at 2 to 6C.
