Possibly stormy late Friday

An unsettled week to come across Britain with Atlantic fronts and low pressure areas often bringing in spells of rain and gusty winds in from the west. Late Friday could become stormy with the risk of damaging winds, but confidence is low at this early stage. A mild to very mild week to come with temperatures expected to become well above normal.

Wednesday 08/03/17
Windy and very mild. Fair and dry for most with sunnier spells, but rain may linger in the south of England all day. Another area of rain sweeps into Britain in the night. Expect high temperatures of 9 to 14C.

Thursday 09/03/17
It continues quite mild for most areas with hill fog in the west and drizzle. It turns drier across central and eastern England with rain and drizzle elsewhere. Heavier rain to affect the north and west overnight. Highs of 11 to 14C.

 
 
 

Friday 10/03/17
Very mild and quite a windy day and it may become stormy in the evening and night. A cloudy, wet day with spells of heavy rain sweeping east across Britain. Gusts to 75 may affect western coasts in the evening then overnight potentially damaging gusts to 60 mph may affect inland areas of Britain, strongest towards the east, with gusts to 75 mph near North Sea coasts. Highs of 10 to 15C.

Strong north westerly gales winds lessen during the day but staying windy. Apart from a few showers around the coasts, a much drier, brighter day with sunny spells developing. Temperatures remain above normal. Highs of 8 to 11C.

A front brings rain into western parts of Britain. Fine and dry in the east with sunny spells. Rain may affect England and Wales overnight. Temperatures remain above normal for much of the country. Highs of 8 to 11C.

Monday 13/03/17
A chilly, day with a risk of some rain in the south west and across Wales clearing. Largely dry for most areas with more cloud in the east and sunnier in the west. Risk of a widespread frost overnight. Expect highs of 5 to 8C.
