Sunday 11/12/16
A cold front moves away south-eastwards early on Sunday morning, so any residual overnight rain should soon clear. Pressure builds from the south-west, bringing a fair day to much of England & Wales. Sunshine breaking through. Light winds in the south. A brisk westerly breeze across northern Britain. Showers in western Scotland should fade. Top temperatures 9 to 12C.

Monday 12/12/16
A cool start across central & eastern Britain, a touch of frost in rural areas. Sunshine likely to turn hazy as cloud thickens from the west. Outbreaks of rain likely to affect western Britain and Ireland, perhaps spreading across much of Wales and central-northern England later. The south & south-east of England should stay dry. Temperatures reaching 7 to 9C east, 10 to 12C west.

Tuesday 13/12/16
Staying mild overnight into Tuesday as south-westerly winds affect the country. Cloudy for most places during the day, and pulses of rain are likely to spread from the south-west, some heavy bursts possible in the west, although detail uncertain. South-eastern Britain may well stay mainly dry. Highs 10 to 13C.

Wednesday 14/12/16
A continued south-westerly flow maintains mild conditions. A belt of rain is likely to pass eastwards across England & Wales, although tending to fade as it reaches the south-east. Areas of showers in the north-west, may merge into persistent rain at times. Highs 8 to 12C.

Thursday 15/12/16
Low confidence of detail. A further belt of rain may pass across central areas, bringing a risk of gales for a time. However, pressure may gradually build through the day. Generally mild, although cooler in the north, highs 7 to 12C.

Friday 16/12/16
Confidence remains low. High pressure to the south, and low pressure to the north. Fair conditions may develop, but a risk of rain or showers in the north. Highs 6 to 11C.
