Some rain in west early week

A mixed weekend ahead, with some heavy showers on Saturday, but a dry day for all on Sunday. By Monday, rain encroaches into the west, then patchy rain drifts east into early Tuesday. High pressure will reside close to the British Isles much of next week, bringing a spell of settled weather, with mild days and cool nights.

Monday 03/04/17
High pressure influences south-eastern Britain, and brings a fine day for much of England & Wales. Sunshine turns hazy, then increasingly overcast from the west later as fronts move in from the Atlantic. Rain extends across Ireland and into western Scotland, most persistent over the hills. Patchy rain reaches Irish Sea coasts later. A freshening southerly breeze, strongest in the west & north. Highs 11 to 17C, warmest south-east.

Tuesday 04/04/17
A front passes east in the early hours but weakens, leaving a zone of cloud and patchy drizzle for a time across central areas. High pressure rebuilds from the west, and skies should brighten through the day. Many places dry. The north-west is likely to stay rather cloudy, with a westerly breeze bringing showers to northern Scotland. Light winds elsewhere. Fairly mild, highs 12 to 17C.

Wednesday 05/04/17
High pressure centred south-west of Britain should bring a settled spell of weather for the rest of the week. Dry for most places. Sunshine and broken cloud. More cloud in the north-west, risk of patchy rain in northern Scotland. Light west to north-westerly winds. Starting cool, risk of slight frost in rural areas. Daytime highs 12 to 16C.

Thursday 06/04/17
Remaining fair. The north-west mostly cloudy, perhaps a little rain in north-west Scotland. Sunny spells for much of the country. Light west to north-westerly winds. Chance of a slight frost overnight where skies are clear. Highs 11 to 16C.

Friday 07/04/17
Little change, although some uncertainty about where the high will be centred. Dry overall, with a good deal of sunshine. Risk of patchy rain in Scotland. Light winds. Starting cool. Highs 11 to 15C.

Saturday 08/04/17
Many places should stay dry and bright with high pressure remaining in charge. Winds mostly light. Highs 11 to 15C.
