Dry for most, breezy at times and feeling cool in the east

A dry week ahead for much of the country as pressure builds. An east to northeast flow will be developing and this will be making for chilly days in the east. Western areas see the best of the sunshine and it is going to be feeling warm here too. Towards the end of the forecast period, into the middle stages of next week, there are some signs of a breakdown with some cool, more unsettled weather developing.

Friday 5/5/17
A similar situation on Friday with the high to the north and the low to the south. The fresh easterly flow persists bringing cloud across the southern half of the UK. There will be a few spots of rain here too. Northern England and Scotland as well as much of Ireland and western Wales together with parts of southwest England should have good spells fo sunshine and will be dry. A cool feel to the day again with highs at 11C on eastern coasts, 16C in the west.


Saturday 6/5/17
The brisk east to northeast flow persists through Saturday with higher pressure to the north and lower pressure to the south. Broken cloud in eastern and southern areas mean only briefer brighter spells here. The best sunshine again in the north and west. Feeling chilly in the wind, highs at 11C in eastern areas but 16C in the west.
 


Sunday 7/5/17
Hints of the flow becoming more northeasterly on Sunday although high pressure still dominates. The change of wind direction brings cooler air in northern and eastern areas together with cloud. More western and southern parts tending to see the best sunshine and staying dry here too. Tops at 9C in northeast Scotland, 18C in parts of west Wales, Ireland and southwest England.


Monday 8/5/17
The northeast flow continues through Monday. Eastern areas are more prone to cloud with the best of the sunshine towards the west. Staying dry too. Watch out for an early frost with temperatures by day reaching 11C on eastern coasts, 17C in the west.


Tuesday 9/5/17
Pressure slipping on Tuesday with a front reaching northern and eastern Scotland. This is going to be bringing moe cloud here and the threat of some outbreaks of patchy rain. Drier to the south and west with some sunshine here. Highs at 8C in northern and eastern Scotland, 12 to 14C for most other areas.

Wednesday 10/5/17
Hints of lower pressure beginning to take control on Wednesday. This may lead to a cloudier day with some outbreaks of rain and showers for most. Feeing cool with highs at 9 to 14C.
