A mild weekend

Issued: 0800 Wednesday 7th December 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Very mild and mixed, then turning cooler again next week

An unsettled and very mild few days ahead as the southwesterly airflow maintains its grip across the UK and ireland. There will be outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mostly in the west. Hints are that as we head into the early to middle stages of next week higher pressure may start to build back from the east bringing some drier conditions and cooler temperatures too.

Some drizzle in the west and north of Ireland, although morning rain fades from the east. Mild again at 10 to 14C.

Sunday 11/12/16
A front eventually clears from southeast England early Sunday taking showery rain with it. Most areas are then likely to become fair with sunny spells. High pressure is expected to be staying east of the country o9n Wednesday with lower pressure to the west. Most eastern and southern parts should be dry and a little cooler. Outbreaks of rain may still affect the cloudier west. Highs near 7 to 10C.

Thursday 15/12/16
The area of high pressure edges closer to the east of the Uk on Thursday. This brings drier and cooler weather with some good spells of sunshine. The risk of cloudier conditions to the west with drizzle on coasts and hills. Highs at 7 to 10C.
