Cold and wet for a few days, then drier and brighter
Cold weather returns in the coming days as low pressure settles over the UK. This is going to be bringing rain and showers, some of it heavy at times. Things look set to be turning drier into the weekend as high pressure builds and temperatures begin to rise once again.

Friday 24/3/17 High pressure remains over the country on Friday. Fronts close to the south coast will be bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to the far south of England. A further front close to northern coasts of Scotland brings cloud and outbreaks of rain here. Elsewhere it will be dry with sunny spells in the west and some cloud in the east. Breezy to the south with highs at 10 to 14C.
Saturday 25/3/17 High pressure remains across the country on Saturday. This brings another mostly fair day. The best of the sunshine is going to be in western oarts of England and Wales. More eastern and southern areas are probably going to be cloudier, although brighter spells here too. Breezy in the south. Highs at 11 to 13C.
Sunday 26/3/17 Pressure stays high on Sunday. Decent spells of sunshine for many, again the best of them in the west. More eastern and southern areas seeing some cloud and remaining windy in the south too. Highs at 10 to 15C.
Monday 27/3/17 High pressure moves to the north of Scotland on Monday. It is going to be dry with good spells of sunshine in the west. More southern and eastern areas could see some cloud. Highs at 11 to 15C.
Tuesday 28/3/17 High pressure remains over the country on Tuesday. There will be more dry conditions and good spells of sunshine in the west. Eastern areas are likely to have more cloud, but a few bright spells here too. Tops at 12 to 15C.
Wednesday 29/3/17 Pressure stays generally high on Wednesday bringing sunny spells and mostly dry conditions. Cloud and some patchy rain in Ireland. Highs at 11 to 15C.
