A milder weekend but then chilly and drier conditions return next week

Turning milder this weekend with rather cloudy and wet conditions to come on Sunday. Next week looks set to become cooler for all. The colder air arrives in he east at first and then spreads west and north as the days progress. It is likely to become mostly dry with on a few showers or some drizzle.

Monday 16/1/17
Pressure is going to be high over the UK and Ireland on Monday. A front extends from eastern Scotland to southwest England bringing plenty of cloud and some outbreaks of drizzle and light rain in many areas. Rather murky and feeling chilly. Drier in western Scotland and Northern Ireland with some bright spells breaking through. Highs at 4 to 5C in England, Wales and most of Scotland, 9C in Ireland and western Scotland.


Tuesday 17/1/17
High pressure centred over southern England on Tuesday. The remnants of a front across southern Scotland, Ireland and Wales bringing lots of murk, low cloud and drizzle here. Cloud may break to the southeast with a few bright spells here and remaining cold. Drier in the far north of Scotland and western Ireland and milder too. Highs at 2C in southeast England, 8C in western Ireland and western Scotland.


Wednesday 18/1/17
Pressure stays high, centred to the east of the UK. Staying cold over much of England and Wales. Cloud is going to be broken with some sunny spells. More cloud in western Scotland and western Ireland with the risk of drizzle here. Breezy in the south. Highs at 3C in the southeast, 7C in western Scotland and Ireland.
 


Thursday 19/1/17
High pressure to the east again through Thursday. Dry with sunny spells developing for many, although increased cloud and some showers in the south and east, together with a brisk wind. Best of the sunshine in the west and north. Cooler for all with highs at 2 to 4C.


Friday 20/1/17
High pressure remains over the UK on Friday. Cold with a strong east wind across England, Wales and Ireland. Some wintry showers affecting the far south and a risk of some rain arriving in northwest Scotland. Highs at 1 to 3C.

Saturday 21/1/17
A more slack pressure flow on Saturday. There could be some low cloud and drizzle in Scotland. For most it should be a dry day with bright spells developing. Chilly at 2 to 4C.
