A mixed week with rain and showers

It's the turn of low pressure to be in control of the weather across the UK and Ireland in the coming week. This is going to be bringing spells of rain and showers. The showers are likely to be heavy at times and thundery too. This could go some way to make up for the dry weather of recent weeks although rainfall is not expected to be evenly distributed across the country.

Thursday 18/5/17
Low pressure extends through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. There will be a mix of sunny spells and showers, these will be heavy at times. The showers could be thundery in places, especially Scotland and Ireland where they could merge into longer spells of rain. Still a risk of heavy showers further south but these probably not as widespread as further north. Highs at 15 to 19C.

Friday 19/5/17
Low pressure is going to be in control of the weather once again on Friday, centred over the UK and Ireland. An unsettled day with showers or longer periods of rain, most north and west. Some of the showers will be thundery. Highs at 14 to 17C.

 
 
 

Saturday 20/5/17
Low pressure is expected to be staying over the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Further showers are expected and these could be heavy at times. There will be drier areas but where these will be is uncertain at this stage. Highs at 12 to 17C.

 
 
 

Sunday 21/5/17
Little changes for Sunday with low pressure in control once again. A day of sunshine, showers and rain with these heavy at times. Temperatures at 11 to 17C.

Monday 22/5/17
Low pressure may drift a little further west on Monday with pressure rising slightly to the east. Showers and rain associated with the low but perhaps an improvement to the east with sunny spells, although confidence is low. Highs at 11 to 16C.

Tuesday 23/5/17
Low pressure probably brings further showers on Tuesday. There will be showers, some of them heavy and prolonged. Highs at 12 to 18C.
