Wintry on hills

Tuesday
A cooler and breezier da ahead. There will be some bright or sunny spells, the best of these in the east. Showers in more western areas, some of them heavy, will be spreading eastwards through the day. Showers turning wintry over the hills of Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland. More eastern areas of England and Scotland as well as eastern Wales seeing relatively few showers. Highs near 6 to 10C.


Tuesday Night
A shallow area of low pressure pushes an area of rain and strong winds eastwards through this evening and overnight. The rain is going to be heavy as it crosses Wales, northern and western England, before clearing through more eastern parts of England in the early hours. Winds will be strong and gusty ahead of the rain band. Tending to be drier in northern and western Scotland as well as Ireland, although there could be some showers around the coasts. Lows near 0C in Scotland, 3 to 6C in southern areas of the country.


Wednesday
Low pressure is going to be centred over the country on Wednesday. Rain affects eastern parts of England during the day. Showers to the north and west with sunny spells and showers. Further showers affecting Ireland and eastern Scotland, again falling as snow on the hills. Fewer showers in western Scotland and western Ireland as pressure builds. Highs at 5 to 9C.
 


Thursday
Low pressure will be drifting to the south of the UK on Thursday. This is going to be bringing showers and sunny spells for many, although an area of more persistent rain may eastern parts of Scotland. Showers too in the far west of Wales, southwest England and eastern Scotland. Elsewhere feeling chilly with sunny spells. Highs at 6 to 11C.
