Tuesday
A slow moving area of low pressure will be centred over the North Sea. A windy day for all, with gales on exposed coasts and hills. Persistent rain in the east & north, at times heavy, most prolonged in Scotland, but gradually fading elsewhere. Blustery showers will follow across central & south-western Britain, some heavy bursts with local thunder. Feeling cool, just 10 to 13C where rain persists, otherwise highs 14 to 17C.

Tuesday night
Rain is likely to continue into the night for east & northern Scotland, plus north-east England as a slow-moving front pivots across these areas. Prolonged heavy falls possible over the hills. Elsewhere, becoming mainly dry, with showers becoming confined to western coasts. Some clear spells developing inland. Staying windy, with gales around coasts in the north & east. Temperatures 8 to 11C, locally cooler in sheltered rural areas.

Wednesday
Many places will see a fair day as a brief ridge of high pressure builds. Sunshine and broken cloud. Fronts return from the south-west later, and rain spreads into south-west England & Wales by late afternoon and evening. Low pressure remains over the North Sea, bringing rain or showers for many hours to north-east Scotland. Windy - gales in the north-east, easing for a time in central areas. Highs 14 to 19C, warmest south-east.

Thursday
Low pressure to the west pushes fronts across Britain & Ireland. Heavy rain for west & northern areas, setting in for much of the day. Occasional rain reaching central areas, but very little toward the south-east, where some sunshine is likely. Northern Scotland too may escape with little rain. Blustery south-westerly winds, local gales possible near western coasts. Temperatures 15C or below in rain, up to 22C in the south-east.
