UK Forecast - August 17, 2017
Bursts of rain
Windy, squally gusts

Friday
A brisk westerly flow across the country brings an unsettled day with areas of heavy rain passing eastwards. Some persistent falls for Wales, northern England & Scotland, followed by showers across Ireland. A belt of heavy rain is likely to move east across the Midlands into the afternoon and evening. The far south of England may well escape largely dry. Winds locally gusting gale force on western coasts. Cool, just 15 to 20C.

Friday night
Showers continue around coasts in the west & north overnight, but will fade elsewhere, allowing skies to clear for central & eastern counties. A strong westerly breeze continues, locally near-gale force on hills and around coasts around the Irish Sea and some exposed spots on North Sea coasts. Temperatures between 10 and 13C, locally cooler in sheltered rural valleys in northern Britain.

Saturday
A bright and breezy day. Sunny spells for many. Often dry for central & southern Britain, whilst northern areas will see showers, locally frequent around western coasts in the morning, spreading inland, and some heavy bursts possible over the hills of northern England & Scotland into the afternoon - isolated thunder in the Scottish Highlands. Blustery westerly winds, easing slightly later. Feeling cool, 14 to 17C north, 18 to 21C south.

Sunday
A warm front approaches from the south-west, bringing rain to Wales & Ireland, which will spread slowly to north-west England, perhaps Scotland. The south-west is likely to be murky with patchy rain or drizzle. Toward the east of Britain, it should be dry much of the day, with sunshine turning hazy then cloud filling in. Rain may extend across the Midlands from the west later. A freshening south-westerly breeze. Highs 18 to 23C.
