Friday
An area of sleet and snow slipping down eastern coasts this morning together with severe gales. There could be a covering of snow in places as the feature clears from southeast England. Friday Night
A widespread frost developing during tonight. It will be staying bitterly cold in a strong northwest wind. Mostly dry in southern England and southern Wales as well as northeast England. Wintry showers affeting northern and western Wales, Northern Ireland, northwest England and the north and west of Scotland. Lows around -1 to -5C.

Saturday
The cold northwest wind brings further wintry showers to eastern parts of Scotland and the east of England where it remains bitterly cold. A ridge of higher pressure builds over Ireland and later into the west of Scotland, western England and Wales. Some showers affecting Wales and southwest England where they will fall as sleet and snow over high ground. Drier and brighter elsewhere with sunny spells and remaining cold. Tops at 0 to 7C.

Sunday
The ridge of high pressure gets squeezed to the south on Sunday. This allows fronts to pass eastwards through Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England bringing rain, drizzle and lots of cloud but also some milder temperatures. Murky too with hill and coastal fog, most in the west. The southern half of England and eastern and southern Wales should be drier with increasing cloud but staying cold. Highs at 3C in southeast England, 9C in Northern Ireland.
