A few showers
Rain north-west this weekend

Thursday
Low pressure to the north of Scotland pushes fronts across northern Britain. Many places will stay dry all day, with variable cloud and sunny spells, generally best in the east & south. A few showers possible for central England, drifting north-eastwards through the afternoon. A band of showery rain moves into western Scotland by afternoon. A fresh southwesterly breeze, strongest in the north-west. Highs 16 to 21C, locally up to 23C in the south-east.

Thursday night
A zone of showery rain passes east across the northern half of Britain. Some locally heavy bursts of rain are possible overnight for northern, then eastern areas, but these very hit and miss toward the Midlands, whilst the south & south-west should avoid the rain completely. A few residual showers may follow the main band into western Scotland. Blustery winds for a time. Temperatures 8 to 13C.

Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds from the west. Many places will be dry with sunny spells, best toward the south-west. Chance of a few drizzly showers affecting Scotland & northern England in the morning, but these should fade. Fronts returning from the Atlantic bring rain to western parts of Scotland & Ireland into the afternoon and evening. A fresh feel with a westerly breeze. Highs 15 to 18C north, 20 to 22C Midlands & south.

Saturday
High pressure lies to the south of Britain. A slow-moving front brings rain to the north & north-west of Britain & Ireland, most persistent in western Scotland, heavy at times. Drizzly rain possible too for west Wales. Central & southern Britain should escape dry. Best sunshine in the south & east. A brisk south-westerly wind, strongest north. Highs 15 to 18C north & west, a humid 23 to 26C south & east.
