Morning Call - January 12, 2017
Rain and snow
Bitter winds

Rain turning to snow in the south later

Good morning,

Low pressure is centred west of Norway, producing a very cold north-westerly regime across the British Isles.

A frontal system and secondary low is expected to move across southern Britain and the English Channel during today. Heavy rain will spread eastwards, turning increasingly to snow on its back edge, which will reach the south Midlands and south-eastern England into the late afternoon and evening, causing concerns for rush hour travel.

Frequent heavy snow and hail showers affect the north-west of Britain & Ireland. Risk of thunder and lightning. However in the east & north-east it stays more often dry with sunny spells.

A strong west to north-westerly wind will make it feel bitterly cold - around 1 to 4C on the thermometer, but sub-zero due to wind chill.

Have a great day.
