Low frost risk until end of week
Most parts of the country should see temperatures above normal with the mildest conditions in the south. Towards the end of the week it looks to turn briefly colder. Generally we expect mixed weather through the week before a cell of high pressure builds in and turns things more settled and dry.

Tuesday 13/12/16 It's mild across England and Wales but colder for Scotland. A fairly cloudy day with rain and showers but mainly dry across western areas but more rain into the south west late in the day. Overall a mainly dry and mild night with a good deal of cloud. Expect high temperatures of 7 to 12C.
Wednesday 14/12/16 Mostly cloudy and breezy and it continues mild with rain in the north and the west. Largely dry across eastern England. A dry night to come A heavier band of rain affects Scotland and Northern Ireland tonight. Staying windy. Highs of 9 to 12C.
Thursday 15/12/16 It should be cooler as temperatures fall but remain above average in most areas. More rain reaches western Scotland and Northern Ireland during the day and this lingers through the evening and night. Some sunshine across the south at times. Highs of 6 to 10C.
Friday 16/12/16 Cooler in for all parts. Mostly cloudy with some bits of mainly patchy, light rain in places but a lot of dry weather to come as well. A dry night and where skies clear expect a frost along with fog patches. Highs of 5 to 8C.
Saturday 17/12/16 It may be quite a cold day on Saturday but a dry one with fog patches clearing. Lots of sunshine to come across Britain. A sharp, widespread frost develops tonight along with dense patches of freezing fog. Highs of 4 to 6C.
Sunday 18/12/16 Not quite as cold today. Morning frost and dense patches of freezing fog across England and Wales will take some time clear. Otherwise a dry day across Britain with sunny spells. Expect highs of 6 to 9C but colder where fog lingers longest.
