Issued: 0530hrs Monday 10 April 2017
Duty forecaster: John Ejdowski

After a brief spell of warm, summery weather over the weekend, today we'll see a significant drop in temperatures, back to closer to normal. A weak cold front with little in the way of precipitation on it clears away to the south. Expect a good deal of cloud across Britain today with only brief sunnier spells. Any showers across Wales and north west England tend to fade by the afternoon. More in the way of showers are likely across northern Scotland, some heavy. Expect highs of 8 to 13 Celsius with brisk winds from the northwest.

Very windy across Scotland into the evening And night with lots of heavy showers across western Scotland. Dry across the rest of Britain. Across Wales and southern parts of England it will be a cold night with frost in the countryside. Expect minimum temperatures of 0 to 4 Celsius.

If you are heading abroad lots of warm, summery weather is expected across Spain and Portugal. Europe is looking chilly and showery.
