Windy with outbreaks of rain, gales in the west

Good morning,

A windy day ahead for all parts of the country with the winds to gale force in the west and south. There will be plenty of cloud around, although some sunny spells continue to affect northern Scotland until this afternoon.
 

Periods of rain this morning over all but northern Scotland. The most persistent of the rain in Wales and southwest England, this then passing through southern England as the morning progresses. More patchy rain elsewhere, again this passing east during the day.

Staying windy overnight with a swathe of severe gales in southern Ireland this afternoon, this reaching southwest England in the evening with many western parts of the UK and Ireland experiencing gale to severe gale force winds during the night. Becoming drier for most, although heavy showers in the west.
