Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Damp, cloudy and cold east but brighter and drier to the west

Good morning,

Cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting the eastern coasts of England and the far east of Scotland this morning. There is likely to be very little change in these areas into this afternoon and it will be feeling chilly too.

Elsewhere watch for an icy start to the day as overnight rain has cleared east. There will be some sunshine in more western parts of Scotland, Wales and southwest England as well as Ireland. However, despite the brightness there are likely to be showers in these areas too. Most of the showers in the far west of Scotland, the far west of Ireland and a few in western Ireland and southwest England.

Overnight it will be staying cold in the east. damp too with drizzle and rain on the coasts of Scotland and England. Drier to the west with a scattering of showers here. A widespread frost developing under the clearer skies.
