Becoming milder this weekend

Good morning,

A trough of low pressure and weak fronts push north-east across Britain today. Low pressure is positioned north of the Faroe Islands, whilst high pressure lies across eastern Europe, and also to the south-west of Iberia.

A lot of cloud lies across the British Isles, producing rain at times, locally persistent in central & northern areas. Showers will affect the south-west, spreading into the Midlands later. The south-east stays more frequently dry.

A brisk southerly wind for eastern coasts, becoming west or south-westerly around the English Channel. Winds fairly light for central & north-western regions.

Today's top temperatures will reach 5 to 8C, mildest in the south-west. A touch of frost is possible tonight in northern areas where skies clear.

The outlook for Sunday brings grey skies and rain or drizzle to central & south-western Britain, plus slightly milder air, whilst the north & north-east stays dry and bright but chilly.
