Morning Call - February 08, 2017
Chilly east
Drier west

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 8th February 2017

Turning colder again from the east with snow on hills

Good morning,

A change underway through today as the easterly wind starts to drive colder air back westwards. Eastern areas of the country will be remaining damp. Drizzle and outbreaks of light rain at low levels with snow flurries on the hills. Some more persistent snow over the Grampians.

As the cooler air arrives through the day the drizzle in the east will increasingly turn to snow flurries, even at low levels.

Further west it will be drier and brighter. Some decent spells of sunshine for western Scotland, western Wales and southwest England. A tendency for cloud to increase in eastern Wales and parts of southwest England into this afternoon, a few showers developing here. Dry with sunny spells in Ireland, although the threat of some outbreaks of rain in the far west later.
